Heat Treatments: AISI 446 steel is generally not subjected to heat treatments to improve mechanical properties, as its main characteristics are corrosion and oxidation resistance at high temperatures. However, it can be heated to high temperatures and cooled slowly for stress relief.

Machinability: AISI 446 steel is machinable using standard techniques, but its high corrosion and oxidation resistance may require specific tools and appropriate machining techniques to avoid tool wear.

Weldability: This steel has limited weldability due to its high chromium content, which can cause cracking during welding. The use of specific welding procedures and pre-heating is recommended to reduce the risk of cracking.

Common Applications:

Boiler and furnace linings
Chemical plant components
Incinerator parts
Exhaust systems
Heat exchangers
Petrochemical industry components
Corrosion Resistance: AISI 446 steel offers excellent corrosion and oxidation resistance, especially in high-temperature environments and in the presence of aggressive gases such as chlorine and sulfur.
