X22CrMoV12-1 (1.4923) stainless steel is a high-temperature resistant steel enriched with molybdenum and a small addition of vanadium to improve creep resistance and mechanical strength at high temperatures.
It is the standard material for the construction of components for steam turbines, nuclear reactors, pressure vessels, and heat-resistant bolting. Thanks to its hardenable martensitic structure, 1.4923 offers excellent mechanical properties after quenching and tempering.
Reference standards:
• EN 1.4923 – X22CrMoV12-1
• DIN 17240 1.4923
• VD TÜV Blatt 110

• Quenching: Heating to 1020–1070°C, followed by quenching in air, oil, or polymer.
• Tempering: Between 640–740°C to achieve the optimal combination of mechanical strength and toughness.
• Stress relieving: 600–680°C after welding or heavy machining.
• Notes: After quenching, tempering must be performed quickly to reduce the risk of cracking.
