Nuclear energy, nuclear power: regarding energy production, particularly using gas or steam turbines, the real challenge is withstanding high pressures and breaking loads in an environment with extremely high temperatures. Materials must be distinguished by the following properties: stability at high temperatures, good long-term creep resistance, and corrosion resistance. Common components include gasification rings, turbine blades, burners, heat exchangers, combustion cells, manifolds, and other components for flue gas desulfurization systems such as valves and flue gas scrubbing systems.
